Getting ready to zipline through the Durban, South African jungle!

“One particular evening bush drive, I will never forget. It was very late in the afternoon/early evening. The sky, without a cloud, had just turned its richest blue. We had just stopped at a spot where giraffes stood all around us when suddenly the slanted rays of the late sun bathed each animal, in just that spot alone, with an unbelievable golden light. From their long slender necks, the graceful giraffe heads seemed to touch the sky. We all remained speechless and still. From behind the adults, their babies suddenly exposed themselves to us. Then suddenly passing through this marvelous giraffe scene appeared wildebeests, zebra, and impala - each in their own family herds with their newborn - all within this circle of golden glow. At that moment, the entire animal kingdom, including ourselves, at that particular place, were in a perfect space of time - all peacefully quiet and co-existing. I will carry that sight in my mind's eye, and the particular powerful feeling that emanated from it, forever. Afterward, we all said – including the Rangers, the experienced, and first-time travelers - that we indeed had been blessed because it was one of the most beautiful and perfect sightings ever.” - Dianne Sloan - Boston, MA Can you imagine the thrill of putting on a harness and gliding along a wire above and through the tropical forest’s canopy, past waterfalls, over gorges, from tower to tower, while at each stopping point your guide briefs you on the ecosystems of the area? Our Eco Safari attendees couldn’t believe how extraordinary their Karkloof Canopy Tour was - and this was just the first day of an 8-night trip jammed with adventures and excitement. Our Eco Safaris have two key purposes: 1) to significantly raise awareness of and interest in what is happening with endangered species and the global environment, and 2) to help raise funds for our other environmental and conservation efforts. While at Thula Thula Game Reserve you are in a different world altogether - the African bush, with gorgeous rolling hills and Savannah plains, scrub brush, Acacia trees, and the expectation that at any moment you are going to encounter more of the amazing wildlife. While there, our attendees enjoyed: - fascinating game drives and bush walks with incredible, close-up experiences with the wildlife, whilst the professional game rangers educated them about the complex eco-systems there. - getting to see the extraordinary relationship Lawrence has with the wild herd of elephants. - a briefing on endangered species. - information about pollution and what is happening environmentally, with solutions and a personalized action plan for each person to implement when they returned home. - bringing supplies to a local Zulu orphanage, educating children on the environment and interacting with the local children. - they had the great good fortune of getting to attend the arrival of an orphaned baby rhino who will be making Thula Thula his new home. - and all while enjoying luxurious accommodations, and scrumptious food and wine. But, most importantly, each has returned with a heightened dedication to be part of the solution in re-creating a healthy and abundant natural world.
Join us on one of our upcoming Eco Safaris, and experience the extraordinary adventure you have always wanted!
