Letter from the International President
Dear Members and Supporters, The Earth Organization is making wonderful strides in forwarding our overall goals. However, unless one understands our guiding principles, it would be easy to be confused about the diversity of activities in which we are engaged. When many people hear the word "survive", they think of the definition which relates to barely eking out an existence, or to make it against all odds. But when one looks at the subject of real survival, it, in fact, has everything to do with abundance. Every life form on this planet is trying to achieve abundance because the more abundance one has, the stronger the chances one has for long-term survival.
Our members believe all species are interdependent and possess one driving purpose in common: to survive. Through education and practical projects, TEO helps individuals and groups take action to achieve a more successful partnership for survival with the natural world. Here is a brief overview of just some of the projects we’re currently working on:
- We are introducing key technologies that clean polluted water and soil to businesses who have toxic waste challenges. - We have introduced a key technology which causes plastics to biodegrade to companies who produce plastic products. - The creation and distribution of environmental and conservation courses for children based on scientifically validated information. - We are pushing forward our campaign to get the United Nations to pass a resolution we wrote called Wildlife in War Zones which will reclassify places where endangered species and other animals are kept as “non-military targets”, just like schools, hospitals and churches.
- We are working with indigenous peoples to move them in the direction of economic prosperity through their stewardship of their lands and wildlife. - We now have 15 chapters in 13 countries: Burkina Faso, Togo, Nigeria, Congo, Ghana, Canada, Zambia, South Africa, England, France, Cameroon, Hungary, United States, with 3 more countries just about to start. Each chapter takes on projects about which they are passionate and which will significantly improve their local scene, whether that is tree planting, protection of wildlife, environmental education, etc.
We are working diligently to push forward and expand these programs and it is with your financial help, volunteer work, and other support that we have been able to make the strides forward that we have.
This is no small game! Stably reversing the decay and decline that much of this planet is experiencing right now can seem like a daunting task. With toxins in our water, soil, and air causing a wide variety of ills; with the endangered species list having grown by 50% just in the last 2 years, from 1,000 to over 1,500; with the number and size of “dead zones” in the oceans expanding at an alarming rate; with many of the ocean’s key fish populations being fished out by 80%; it is imperative that we get this turned around, if only for the long-term survival of mankind. The magnitude of what needs to be done can appear daunting. However, it can be done. But only with the support of a large number of people who see the bigger picture and who care enough to help.
If you are not an active member, please become one. If you have let your membership expire, please re-sign. If you are an active member, please move up to the next higher membership level. You can do each of these things by going to OUR DONATION PAGE.
And we can never have enough volunteers! If you have even an hour or two here and there, we can use your help. Call us at (818)769-3410 and ask for Marissa. Your support is extremely appreciated. Let’s do this…for ourselves, our children and theirs, this gorgeous planet, and all the amazing life that resides on it!
Kindest Regards, Barbara Wiseman International President The Earth Organization
